An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Chartered Structural Engineer to join a well-established chartered building consultancy that is expanding its services and investing in the development of a new structural engineering capability.

This is a rare opportunity to lead and shape a new discipline within an established consultancy, working closely with an experienced team of building surveyors, designers, and technical specialists.

The Role
As Senior Structural Engineer, you will take ownership of structural engineering services within the business, leading the design and delivery of projects across a diverse portfolio.

Projects typically include residential, commercial, and heritage buildings, ranging from structural alterations and extensions through to new-build developments.
You will work collaboratively with the wider professional team while also playing a key role in developing the internal systems, standards, and processes that will support the growth of the structural engineering function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design across a variety of new build, extension, and refurbishment projects
  • Prepare structural calculations, drawings, and specifications in accordance with Eurocodes and UK Building Regulations
  • Carry out structural inspections and surveys, producing clear reports on defects, stability, and remedial solutions
  • Work closely with architects, building surveyors, contractors, and clients to deliver coordinated design solutions
  • Provide technical input and structural advice to the wider consultancy team
  • Manage project workloads, programmes, and budgets
  • Help develop internal standards, QA processes, and templates for the structural engineering service

About You

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or MIStructE) – essential
  • MEng or MSc in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • Minimum 6 years’ experience in structural design and analysis
  • Strong knowledge of Eurocodes, BS standards, and Building Regulations
  • Experience using structural design software such as MasterSeries, Tekla, SCIA Engineer, or Autodesk Robot
  • Experience with BIM/Revit or Tekla would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to produce clear technical reports
