Principal Structural Engineer

Location: Edinburgh

Company Size: 75-100 headcount

I am working closely with an employee-owned engineering consultancy as they look to appoint a Principal Structural Engineer in their Edinburgh office. This will be an engineer that has a background of successfully leading and running projects – budget control, client management and business development. The ideal background is someone that is Chartered and possesses experience in a wide range building structure sectors from residential and education through to commercial builds.

Principal Structural Engineer Role

Assist in the running of a small team (8 engineers, 3 technicians), lead a selection of projects whilst actively contributing to the larger projects of the office. Mentoring juniors is a key aspect of the position – experience in this is beneficial.

Edinburgh Office Projects

  • Distilleries (10 active projects throughout Scotland).
  • Royal High School redevelopment (recently received approval).
  • Various multi-million-pound residential extension projects.
  • 27 frameworks (NHS, Edinburgh Council etc).
  • Wide range of conservation projects (Glenfinnan Viaduct, Links View and Cables Wynd).

Principal Structural Profile

  • Software experience – Tekla and Masterseries (training can be provided).
  • Chartered Status is essential for this position.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing and delivering projects (10k-multimillion in value).
  • Experience working with Steel and Concrete.
  • A keen interest in Conservation projects is beneficial however, non-essential.

Salary and Benefits

  • £48,000 – £58,000 (Experience Dependant).
  • Unique 35-hour week.
  • 9- day fortnight option.
