Structural Design Engineer

If you’re a structural engineer keen to work towards a practice leadership role in one of the country’s most vibrant cities, read on…

Haworth McCall Consulting is a busy structural and civil engineering practice co-located in Brighton and Belfast. We’re proud to work with some of the UK and Ireland’s leading architectural practices on many exciting projects, providing structural engineering design for multi-story residential apartments, high-end bespoke houses, commercial and education properties, and historic buildings.

We have a progressive outlook on everything from sustainability to working practices. For example, our full-time staff can take six fully-paid weeks off once every three years to do whatever they want.

We’re looking for an exceptional structural engineer to join our team in the wonderful city of Brighton. This person will be Chartered, or nearly Chartered, with the Institution of Structural Engineers. This is a hands-on design engineering role that will suit someone who thrives with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will also:

  • be an accomplished manager and mentor of junior staff
  • be skilled in producing practical and cost-effective structural designs in timber, reinforced concrete, masonry, and steel
  • be skilled in successfully managing projects so that they are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard
  • be highly competent in the use of Revit, AutoCAD and Tekla
  • have a minimum of eight years design experience with a consulting structural engineering practice in the UK or Ireland
  • be an excellent communicator – both in writing and face to face
  • ideally have experience in minor civils design.

What’s in it for you?

  • We’re offering a competitive salary (£45k-£55k) and a supportive and stimulating working environment where you will quickly feel like a valued member of the team.
  • Working with us will give you a fantastic opportunity to develop your professional skills and experience.
  • We’ll encourage you to take on increasing responsibility and, ultimately, a leadership role in our practice.
