Short Description: Structural and Civil Engineer, preferably Chartered with experience to work on and support the delivery of our varied, innovative, imaginative, sustainable, and historic structures commissions. We require an enthusiastic and ambitious colleague to support us and be a part of the significant growth we are enjoying and foresee continuing over the next 5 years.

Full Description: Generally: Providing professional civil and structural engineering services within a multi disciplinary structures and buildings practice rebranded as Desmonde Associates from the original PDP (set up in 1982) operating throughout the UK. To provide quality technical and managerial support for our Cornwall and Devon smaller projects, but also major Clients such as Local Authorities, the Scottish Government, Prime Contractors, and Property Developers throughout the UK.

Skills: You would be working on a wide range of project types from new homes/commercial and extensions to nationally important historic structures; geotechnical, civil, and coastal structures; and supporting delivery of expert evidence. Commercial and technical management and at least 5 years’ experience of structural and civil engineering design and construction capabilities. Quality assured innovative design coupled with skilled use of software. Delivery of Designer Method Statements and Risk Assessments including compliance with the CDM Regulations and managing the roles and responsibilities of the Construction Participants.

Qualifications: Appropriate academic qualifications and Chartered Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers or Institution of Civil Engineers with at least 5 years relevant experience.

Role: You will be working within a Design Office, using typical software such as TEDDS/TEKLA and AutoCAD/Revit. Good communicator and report writing skills. Self-motivated and ambitious. An ability to promote our skills and capability with good Client and Supplier relationships. Site Inspections and Project Meetings requiring travel – driving licence is necessary. We support Home working.

Skills: You will deploy your engineering and management expertise working with a small technical team to deliver allocated work and services and control Job Control, Client Liaison and Quality Assurance.

Training: will be a significant part of what you do. This includes your own CPD courses of to at least 2 CPD sessions per year, but encouraging and supporting junior personnel to develop their skill sets and professional qualifications.

Remuneration: For the selected candidate, you can expect a better than average salary with attendant income growth linked to profit share. Relocation support may be provided.
