Senior Civil Engineer
JBA Consulting are seeking an experienced civil engineer for our Peterborough office. The successful candidate will lead technical design work for civil/structural engineering projects within the flood defence sector. You should have experience in delivering flood risk management projects for the Environment Agency or other risk management authorities. We are looking for candidates with good technical ability, able to manage design projects and work pro-actively with the construction team on our design and build joint venture. Sustainability is one of our key Client’s drivers so experience or understanding of carbon impacts of design and wider sustainability issues is desirable.
You will report to a Team Leader and will manage the delivery of a range of engineering and environmental improvement projects, including options appraisal, concept design and detailed scheme design. The candidate will be responsible for mentoring and supervising junior staff and, dependant on experience, line management duties.
The post will be based in our Peterborough, Cambridgeshire office and will work closely with engineers and other technical staff from across JBA’s offices, primarily on the Environment Agency WEM Framework in a design and build environment but you will also be expected to help build a growing portfolio of work. You would be joining a young and dynamic team in Peterborough who are enjoying project success which has been recognised by recent industry awards.
For this role a degree in civil and or structural engineering is essential, and you should be either Chartered or approaching Chartered status and actively pursuing your professional qualification. JBA has an approved training scheme with the Institution of Civil Engineers and has personnel who can support your progress to Chartership. Candidates must have substantial and proven experience of UK consultancy work.
