Liverpool City Council wish to recruit a Structural Engineer/Technician.
The successful applicant will assess the acceptability of submissions made under the provisions of the Building Regulations, in accordance with British and other Standards and Codes of Practice. You will use your judgement to determine which matters are to be considered in relation to the structural appraisal of submissions of any size, basis, complexity or construction as the workload of the section dictates.
The Structural Engineer/Technician will maintain, support and develop, close working relations with other Sections and Service Areas and may be occasionally required to attend site to consider structural issues in relation to submissions received for appraisal. The successful applicant will be responsible to the Building Control Business Development Manager in relation to structural appraisal.
The post holder will be expected to:
* Provide advice relevant to structural appraisal on legislation and technical matters and guidance and instruction to professionals, technical and other staff.
* Assist the Area Surveyor/Principal Building Control Officer in the study and reporting on new or proposed legislation relevant to structural appraisal, circulars or other matters affecting the function of the Service. Establish or revise operational systems, procedures and policies as required.
* To prepare necessary notes, reports, schedules or other relevant correspondence.
* Carry out Structural surveys and reports in relation to council projects.
