About the Role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a key technical leadership role, delivering innovative and efficient structural engineering solutions from concept through to detailed design. You will work on a variety of project types – including commercial, residential, education, industrial and infrastructure – and act as a trusted engineer for both internal teams and external clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the structural design and technical delivery of projects in accordance with UK standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Produce and review detailed structural calculations, drawings, BIM models (2D/3D), specifications and reports.
  • Provide engineering judgment on material selection (steel, concrete, masonry, timber) and design strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, civil engineers, technicians and project stakeholders to coordinate multidisciplinary designs.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, fostering high technical standards and knowledge sharing.
  • Engage with clients and external partners to develop strong relationships and support business growth.
  • Ensure compliance with BIM protocols and project quality assurance processes.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Chartered or nearchartered status with a UK engineering institution (e.g., IStructE/ICE) preferred.
  • Strong track record in a UK structural design office with demonstrable experience across multiple project sectors.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software, with experience in BIM/Revit highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of design codes, technical standards and UK construction best practices.
  • Excellent technical report writing, communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage project budgets, deliverables and timelines effectively.
