An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Structural Engineer to join a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, playing a pivotal role in strengthening their structural engineering team in Manchester and supporting projects across the wider UK.

This role offers exposure to a wide variety of projects – from the design of large, complex developments valued between £5m and £200m, to detailed assessments of existing structures. It’s a chance to take on responsibility, develop leadership skills, and make a real impact on the built environment.

The Role

As Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll be delivering high-quality structural engineering services within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary design team. You’ll take projects from inception through to completion, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to the growth and commercial direction of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead projects independently, ensuring delivery to programme, quality and budget.
  • Undertake structural analysis and design in accordance with Eurocodes, delivering sustainable, efficient, and buildable solutions.
  • Review and check technical deliverables including calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Conduct structural surveys, inspections and building assessments, producing clear technical reports and recommendations.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, technicians and apprentices.
  • Oversee site visits, resolving technical queries and supporting contractors during construction.
  • Contribute to resource planning and financial performance reporting.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Chartered, or working towards Chartered status, with IStructE or ICE.
  • Strong technical background in the design of concrete, steel, masonry and timber structures.
  • Proficient with structural design software
  • Knowledge of BIM and 3D environments, with AutoCAD/Revit experience an advantage.
  • Demonstrable experience running projects of significant size and complexity in the UK.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident in a client-facing role.
  • Commercially aware, collaborative, and ambitious.
