Technical Manager, BCSA

The position of Technical Manager has recently become available at the British Constructional Steelwork Association and is ideal for someone experienced in the design and fabrication of constructional steelwork. The British Constructional Steelwork Association is the national organisation for the steel construction industry whose member companies undertake the design, fabrication, and erection of steelwork for all forms of buildings and civil engineering.
The Technical Manager will report to BCSA’s Director of Engineering. As Technical Manager you will assist in setting the technical direction of the association, participate in the development of steel design and fabrication standards, manage a number of BCSA’s committees, help develop practical design and fabrication guides and support BCSA’s member companies with their questions on the design and fabrication of steel structures.
The successful candidate should be educated to degree level or equivalent and be a chartered structural engineer. You should have at least 10 years’ experience in the design and execution of steel structures. Experience in the development of national and international standards and an understanding of light-gauge steel and fire engineering would be an advantage. You should be self-motivated and have good communication and written skills. You will predominantly work form BCSA’s London office and will be required to travel throughout the UK with some nights away.
