A Multi-disciplinary engineering company with a great reputation is looking for Trainee Geotechnical Driller, to support our Lead Driller with Ground/Site Investigations - predominantly drilling boreholes to determine certain characteristics and conditions of the underlying soil/ground, as well as ground water, soakage testing and gas monitoring.

This is a fantastic opportunity, not only to join a growing team, but to gain hands-on experience, learn on the job and develop professionally.

The position is based in Hugglescote, near Leicester, so you must live within daily commuting distance of the office, and due to the need for travel to sites across the UK it is essential that you have a full UK driving licence.

Key role responsibilities:

Assist in the operation and maintenance of hand-held and mechanical drilling equipment, under the direction of the Lead Driller.Use cable avoidance equipment prior to all intrusive ground investigations.Assist in the management of equipment/consumables store and workshop, to ensure they are kept clean and tidy. Ensure stock levels of equipment and consumables are maintained.Assist in the supervision of infiltration rate testing, under the supervision of project engineers.Key skills, experience and attributes required:Must be able to work professionally, both independently and as part of a team. A self-motivated individual with a desire to not only work within the team but also have ambition to help it grow and develop.Develop, through training and experience, a reasonable knowledge of soil and rock properties.Develop, through training and experience, a working knowledge of ground investigation techniques and associated equipment.Develop, through training and experience, a working knowledge of health and safety standards and always adhere to them.Must be confident working with contractors on site, and with office-based staff.With support from the Company, complete the relevant NVQ (Drilling Support Operatives), to progress to a Lead Driller.Hold a valid CSCS card (support to obtain one will be provided if not).Excellent time keeping skills.Excellent communication skills.Must hold full clean driving licence and have own private car with insurance for business use.
