Structural Integrity Inspector

£65,094 - £69,949 plus a market supplement of £10,000 plus IMT Allowance of £7,000

Health & Safety Executive Energy Division has an unrivalled history of progress towards securing control of both existing and emerging risks. Respected internationally for our independent status and integrity, it has a long-standing reputation for technical expertise which can be applied logically to deliver effective, proportionate solutions – enabling hazardous activities to be managed safely. Offshore safety and the linked environmental protection remains a high government priority.

We offer a real opportunity to influence and improve safety across a wide range of activities both on and offshore, including ageing installations, the significant new exploration programme and the most high tech innovations.

The UK’s offshore industry is here for some time to come and so is the need for its regulator. This is your opportunity to be part of its future and to make a difference using your knowledge and skills whilst continuing your development within the unique variety and depth of challenge that Energy Division offers you.

You will be part of a team responsible for the regulation of offshore installations and duty holders providing expertise in the field of structural integrity. This can involve inspecting the adequacy of Structural Integrity Management systems, assessing safety cases and investigating incidents.

You will also become involved in developing HSE guidance demonstrating to duty holders what regulatory compliance could look like for various complex structural topics.

Your own technical advice should provide a sound basis for employers to set and maintain their own appropriate safety standards.

From day one, you will be supported by your manager and colleagues to understand your role in HSE, develop your skills and support you in your continuing professional development. For the legal requirements of the role, you will be enrolled on the Specialist Training Programme (STP) and will be required to study for and successfully complete the Unit. You will receive appropriate training and complete a legal assessment.

HSE is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive working environment and we particularly welcome Female/Male/BAME/disabled/LGBT+ applicants, as they are currently underrepresented in this discipline within HSE.
