Graduate Civil/Structural Engineer
Are you looking for a graduate role in Civil or Structural Engineering? Then look no further.
At Drax we are looking for someone to join our Civil Engineering team at our power station in Selby, North Yorkshire. You may not have considered a career at a power station, but trust us, it is an environment like no other with a broad range of exciting projects and challenging work. You will be doing everything from surveying and repairing our cooling towers to developing new build projects. The breadth of work is staggering, just like the site itself.
As a graduate, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering major new-build buildings and infrastructure projects as well maintenance/refurbishment projects, all the while gaining great design and construction experience. You will also work closely with other engineering teams, such as mechanical and electrical, and working with specialist designers and contractors.
We will provide you with the support and training you need to succeed. You will be constantly developing your skills, so you can carry out designs, prepare enquiries, review tender submissions and supervise construction works. Alongside this you will be equipped to provide civil/structural input to plant augmentation projects, supervise consultants engaged on design and surveying as well as the supervision of specialist contractors. You will also be provided with a comprehensive training programme to help you progress towards professional recognition with the Institution of Civil Engineers.
We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic and self-motivated. You’ll need to have completed a BEng or MEng Civil and/or Structural Engineering degree course (or equivalent). As well this, you will need excellent problem-solving skills coupled with strong written and verbal communication skills. On the more technical side you will need to have a working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft office, including Excel. You’ll need knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards for the design of steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry and timber along with an understanding of their structural behaviours and specifications.
Applying is easy. Please submit your CV and cover letter on our website by clicking ‘Apply’, and remember we want to get to know you as an individual so don’t forget to tell us what motivates you and why Drax sparked your interest.
