Lancashire County Council has an exciting and challenging building programme, which includes schools, libraries and public buildings, through to extensions; as well as maintenance and refurbishment of existing properties in the Council's property portfolio.

We are looking for enthusiastic, skilled individuals to join our team of Structural Engineers delivering a wide variety of projects, working closely with our in house multi-disciplinary teams of Architects, Surveyors and M&E Engineers.

The post is a permanent full time role based at County Hall within the Design and Construction Service.

The post holder will be expected to work independently on projects, and to assist senior engineers on more complex projects. In all cases, you will be working to deliver schemes to budget and programme.

The post holder will require excellent communications skills and a customer focused approach to service delivery.

The post holder will need a good working knowledge of the principles and practice of structural design, building construction, the relevant current standards, and a thorough understanding of health and safety requirements.

Most design is undertaken using computer packages for structural analysis and drafting and the post holder will be expected to be familiar with the use of software systems.

The post holder will also be trained to undertake a sports ground safety role, which is also carried out by the team.

This is an essential car user post.

Other benefits include a local government pension scheme, a generous holiday entitlement and flexible working hours.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Team Manager Stephen Williams on 01772 533289.
