Bourne Engineering is an in-house team providing engineering services to the Bourne Group. This position is focused on structural steelwork engineering for the Bourne Steel division. The role includes the direct management of a small team of technical staff.
The engineering is for major multi-million pound structural steelwork projects in the UK, including the design of temporary works, connections, secondary/proprietary steelwork elements, Fire engineering, treatment systems, Floor systems (precast & metal decking) and associated interface materials. Overall design of steel frames may also be undertaken on design and build projects.
The services provided require a high level of problem solving skills and a real understanding of build-ability issues on major construction sites and in the fabrication shop.
Technical / Structural Engineering production and design management within the Bourne Engineering technical team
Production of engineering designs which are safe, efficient and fully compliant with project speciFications, national standards and other statutory regulations
Delivery of designs within budget and to programme
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Professionally qualified membership of IStructE /ICE Chartered engineer (or Incorporated engineer level with suitable experience)
Good knowledge of structural mechanics and building standards
Previous design experience either working for a specialist contractor, or a consultant in structural engineering for building structures
Structural or Civil Engineering Degree, or appropriate higher education qualiFi-cation
